Cross-browser testing is a critical step in the process of developing a website, in which the designer and developers ensure that a site is working across multiple web browsers. Typically this will involve fixing visual discrepancies between browsers and browser versions.

HTML e-mail allows rich text and imagery to be sent via e-mail, as opposed to using just plain text. Most mail clients do not render HTML in the robust fashion of most modern web browser, so it's important to be aware of their rendering quirks.

Iconography is the use of symbolism to identify higher level ideas. On the web, this is a useful tool for compressing complex ideas into a small amount of space.
