I'm currently learning javascript on treehouse but I'm struggling.
I found css much more enjoyable to learn and i was wondering whether that was just because css is easier.
I don't know why but with css I could watch a video and feel excited about learning. However with javascript I'm struggling to get through each video as I'm finding them so boring to watch.
I have just started it and hopefully it picks up but before I started I couldn't wait as I thought this would enable me to make much better websites. But I find nothing seems to happen but console log every video where as in css you actually saw it capabilities.
I hate to say it as I love treehouse as a website but does anyone else find jim hoskins quite boring. The last thing I want to do is offend anyone but I really am struggling to work out why I can't concentrate on the videos more.
Maybe it is just a lot harder to learn and its the point that tells if I really want to learn web design. I'm just not usually someone who would struggle to concentrate

It looks like Treehouse is remaking the JavaScript Foundations series with a release sometime in November and with a different instructor. I've been patiently waiting for this.

13,116 PointsI don't think that is a remake, it is a new course coming called JavaScript Basics. It seems to not note if it will have arrays or objects but yes I am looking forward to it too I believe it will be really good. The instructor of it said in another post he'll try to release it by next week.
Edit: The course indeed went live today.

13,116 PointsI understand how you feel. For some reason when I reached the javascript course (ie. Javascript Foundations) it was hard for me to keep up with it. I actually have stopped it for some time. I thought I was burnt out maybe but it is harder for me to go through it, even though what it says is not super hard, I have to motivate myself way more in order to go through that course. I am surprise to see someone else feeling the same way. I have done stage 1 so far and I hope it gets more exciting. It is hard for me to force myself to watch through it. After thinking it through I think the causes of it being demotivating in some way is...
It has no preview video of why we should do the course. Usually courses that show what you'll be learning are more encouraging to follow. All we know of it when we start is that it is needed in order to make better websites and use some frameworks based in javascript or move to another stage if you are in a Track.
Right from the beginning it doesn't show us how powerful Javascript can be, and what we will be able to do with it after this course, which also can serve as a motivation to keep up with it.
I believe if these two things are kept in mind at every new course that comes it will be highly motivating, also to students who check the preview videos before signing up.
However I want to encourage you to take a break and try again when you feel you are up for it. It is something worth learning.

4,041 PointsI understand how you feel. I still haven't started the Javascript course, so I can't really judge the instructor, but I have taken a couple of Javascript classes at the university. Javascript is a little bit more difficult than HTML and CSS, but I'm sure if you keep practicing, it'll become easy. Good luck :-)
