Sass, Syntactically Awesome Style Sheets or Semantically Awesome Style Sheets?

Kind of a minor and 'technical' question here, but I was curious all the same.

I know that Sass isn't an acronym and has a backronym. Everywhere on the web I see "SYNTACTICALLY Awesome Style Sheets", including Wikipedia.

On the video series by the creator of Sass he mentions that it stands for "SEMANTICALLY Awesome Style Sheets, which is also reflected in the quizzes.

I noticed that I was looking for "Syntactically Awesome Style Sheets", which I couldn't find.

So was this, a slip of the tongue, or have we all been saying it wrong?

Once again, a very minor thing, and really not that important, just curious as to what the 'real' name is.

Thanks.

Honestly, the acronymization happened haphazardly. I think both are fine. There is only one truth, the one you want it to be.

Sass is also:

  • Something Amazing StyleSheet
  • So Another Stupid Style
  • Stop All Silly Sass
  • Sass A Sassy Sass

But, you are right. I should have gone with the official acronym in the video. GOOD CATCH!

Acronymization ... I think I'm going to have use that one. Verb'ing nouns is

Just as long as you don't write it "SASS" in all caps, no one is going to care.

There's no yelling in Sass

Haha, thanks everybody with your answers - I like the 'mysterious' nature of the SASS backronym ;).
