Introduction to project and general overview of course. We’ll take a look at the wireframes, page mock up, and graphic icon we’ll be creating in these lessons.
[MUSIC] 0:00 Hi, my name is Ashley Burke. 0:04 I'm a multimedia artist and designer. 0:07 Welcome to the wonderful world of Illustrator. 0:10 In this course, you're going to learn how to use Adobe Illustrator through the lens 0:13 of a web designer. 0:17 If you're new to Illustrator and want to get familiar with the fundamentals, or 0:19 if you are interested in designing and laying out the visual 0:23 elements of a webpage, then this is a good place to start. 0:26 In this course, we're going to create a simple homepage design and logo for 0:30 a fictitious company that specializes in pencil sales, called Pencil and Co. 0:35 There will be three distinct deliverables. 0:40 First, the wire frame, which will act as the blueprint for the homepage design. 0:44 Second, a new graphic logo for the company that will be used prominently on the site. 0:49 And third, a fully realized homepage mock-up for both mobile and 0:55 desktop that will include a fresh logo, images, and typography. 0:59 Our project is going to be divided into five sections. 1:05 In section one, we'll begin by talking about what makes Adobe Illustrator unique. 1:09 And after customizing your work space, 1:14 we'll get started creating a new document with multiple art boards. 1:16 In section two, you'll learn about the importance of grids and 1:21 create a wire frame for both mobile and desktop. 1:24 We'll utilize helpful tools, such as symbols and 1:28 graphic styles that allow us to speed up our workflow. 1:31 In section three, we'll get into drawing with vector using the Pen and Pencil tool. 1:35 And then, 1:41 working from a sketch, we will take it all the way to a finished illustration. 1:42 This illustration will be our graphic logo. 1:47 In section four, building on our wire frame as the foundation, 1:50 we'll design the fully realized page mock-up with color, 1:54 typography, photos, and our custom logo. 1:58 Finally, in section five, we'll first save our files for presentation as a PDF. 2:02 Then, we'll optimize files for web, talk about compression, 2:08 and check out illustrators SVG and CSS capabilities. 2:14 Let's get started. 2:18
