In this course, you're going to learn how
to use Adobe Illustrator through the lens
0:13
of a web designer.
0:17
If you're new to Illustrator and want to
get familiar with the fundamentals, or
0:19
if you are interested in designing and
laying out the visual
0:23
elements of a webpage,
then this is a good place to start.
0:26
In this course, we're going to create
a simple homepage design and logo for
0:30
a fictitious company that specializes
in pencil sales, called Pencil and Co.
0:35
There will be three distinct deliverables.
0:40
First, the wire frame, which will act as
the blueprint for the homepage design.
0:44
Second, a new graphic logo for the company
that will be used prominently on the site.
0:49
And third, a fully realized homepage
mock-up for both mobile and
0:55
desktop that will include a fresh logo,
images, and typography.
0:59
Our project is going to be
divided into five sections.
1:05
In section one, we'll begin by talking
about what makes Adobe Illustrator unique.
1:09
And after customizing your work space,
1:14
we'll get started creating a new
document with multiple art boards.
1:16
In section two, you'll learn
about the importance of grids and
1:21
create a wire frame for
both mobile and desktop.
1:24
We'll utilize helpful tools,
such as symbols and
1:28
graphic styles that allow us
to speed up our workflow.
1:31
In section three, we'll get into drawing
with vector using the Pen and Pencil tool.
1:35
And then,
1:41
working from a sketch, we will take it
all the way to a finished illustration.
1:42
This illustration will
be our graphic logo.
1:47
In section four, building on our
wire frame as the foundation,
1:50
we'll design the fully realized
page mock-up with color,
1:54
typography, photos, and our custom logo.
1:58
Finally, in section five, we'll first
save our files for presentation as a PDF.
2:02
Then, we'll optimize files for
web, talk about compression,
2:08
and check out illustrators SVG and
CSS capabilities.
2:14
Let's get started.
