BuddyPress User settings1:37 with Zac Gordon
In this video we look at how users can manage and edit their settings in BuddyPress. This includes being able to change one's email as well as what email notifications a user receives via email.
Another important thing to know about for user profiles are user settings.
If we come in to view our profile, either by
click on ourselves from within the Members section, or by
clicking on ourselves in the top tab, we should see
extra options that we don't see on somebody else's profile.
For example, if we go and we look at another user,
we can see their Activity, Profile, Friends, and Groups.
However, if we click on ourselves, we also see Notifications, Messages, and Settings.
Let's look at Settings now.
Under Settings you can see that they have the option
to change their account email, as well as change their password.
These are default WordPress settings that we would expect.
They also have the option under the Email tab, to determine whether they want to
receive e-mails, for all sorts of possible
events that happen in the Buddy Press environment.
Members will be able to read through each of these and determine
on a per use basis, what they would like to receive via e-mail.
We also see, because we gave users the option, that they
have the ability to delete their account if they want to.
In some environments, you might not want to give people this
ability, and you can turn it off from the main BuddyPress settings
area in the admin area.
