It's now time to put your plan into action. In this video watch Jack perform his design tasks to achieve a solution for Peter or Peter's Pies.
We are on to our third step in the problem solving process, performing. 0:00 This is where we can put our design skills we learned to the test. 0:05 We use the design elements and principles of 0:10 design to perform solutions for the problems at hand. 0:12 In this particular case, Jack will start the design 0:16 process and start to form a solution for Peter's Pies. 0:20 Let's take a look at the steps to success. 0:25 Jack's process varies from project to project. 0:29 However, he has the same approach when he's in the performance stage. 0:32 Jack works quickly and is focused, with all 0:37 of his attention dialed in on solving a problem. 0:39 He likes to put the project into action and perform. 0:42 Carrying out this step didn't always come easy 0:45 to Jack, or any designer for that matter. 0:48 There are always things that hold us back, especially when it comes to this step. 0:51 The perform step is the most difficult 0:57 and stressful but always is the most rewarding. 0:59 Here are a couple of suggestions to help you through this step. 1:03 First, you must be passionate about the project. 1:07 Second, break the project down into steps. 1:10 Third, positivity is the key to making progress. 1:14 Fourth, there must be a purpose. 1:20 Without a purpose, there's not solution. 1:23 Fifth, get rid of complications. 1:26 As Dieter Rams said, less is more. 1:29 Six, always go with your gut feeling. 1:33 If it doesn't feel right, don't do it. 1:36 And seventh, be confident about your work. 1:39 Own it, you made it, stand behind it. 1:43 This is how Jack executes his design performance. 1:46 [MUSIC] First comes inspiration. 1:49 Second, he researches the competition. 1:52 Third, he designs a style guide for Peter's Pies. 1:56 Fourth, Jack designs all the mediums using the assets from the 1:59 style guide, and these mediums here are the signage, website, and packaging. 2:04 Finally he gets quotes on everything and organizes it for Peter to look over. 2:09 Jack then shows all of his work that he's done for Peter. 2:16 While Peter's surprised at the cost, Jack emphasizes the importance of 2:19 design and the value that quality work brings to his business. 2:24 Peter couldn't agree more. 2:29 Jack sends everything to print and finishes building 2:31 everything out for the website, which he then launches. 2:35 The performance part of the problem solving 2:39 process can be quite stressful and tedious. 2:41 However, it's the most rewarding part of all. 2:44 [MUSIC] Now that we understand the performance stage, let's take 2:47 a look at the final stage in the problem solving process. 2:51 But before we do that, let's take a quick quiz. 2:56
