Creating Static Theme Templates1:30 with Zac Gordon
The first step in beginning to code our template files is to create them. In this video we will create our main template files in our new theme directory.
For project files please refer to the first video: Reviewing the HTML Prototype
In the last video, we looked at where to store our template files and assets.
In this video, we're going to start creating our first template files.
Now that we have the new themes folder set up for our theme, inside of wp-content,
themes, let's go ahead and start creating our basic files.
To do this, we're going to drag our themes folder into Sublime Text, our text editor,
and then we'll go in and create a new file and save it as index.php.
From here we can do Save As and save the file as front-page.php.
Next we'll do Save As again and save the file as home.php.
The next file we'll create is page.php,
and we'll follow that by work.php, which we'll use for our main work template.
Next we'll come down and create a single.php
as well as a single-work.php.
