The WordPress Theme Directory1:10 with Zac Gordon
WordPress has a specific directory structure that determines where to add our theme files to WordPress. In this video we will create that directory.
WordPress has a well-structured file system
with a special folder where all of the themes go.
This folder is the themes folder, and it can be found under wp-content/themes.
Inside of this folder we're going to create a new folder for our theme.
To navigate to our themes folder, we'll first come in to our wp-content folder
and then click on themes.
We can see here that we have our 2012 and 2011 theme.
Let's go ahead and create a new folder for our theme named wpportfolio.
When working with WordPress, you may find that you need to set special file permissions
for your wp-content, your themes, and/or your theme folder.
However, since we're working locally, this shouldn't be a problem.
It is something to keep in mind, however,
when you upload your site or work off of a live server.
