Online Presence1:37 with Dan Gorgone
To succeed as a digital marketer, you must develop an effective, engaging, and trustworthy online presence. Your online presence is the collection of identities you establish across multiple networks and platforms to show who you are and give people a way to communicate with you.
Things to Consider
- Does your company have an online presence beyond its website?
- Which social networks are you present on? Are you active with a fully-developed profile on each one?
- Do you have a content publishing schedule to help you with website and social media efforts?
To succeed as a digital marketer, you must develop an effective, engaging,
and trustworthy online presence.
Your online presence is the collection of identities you establish
across multiple networks and platforms to show who you are
and give people a way to communicate with you.
An online presence communicates the basics of your company name and logo
but also gives you the opportunity to share your corporate goals, identity,
motivations, voice, even your sense of humor.
From your website home base to your multiple positions on social networks and forums,
to be successful across these platforms you must be invested in what you create.
For example, signing up for a Twitter account is good.
Personalizing the profile with your logo and colors is better.
But actually using it on a regular basis by posting info
and getting into conversations with users, that's the best.
Building these connections can strengthen your relationships with potential customers,
but social networks are also a great way to get introduced to new customers.
So creating a publishing schedule or checklist to keep track of when
and what you need to do each day to properly manage all these connections
is a helpful way to stay on track.
In upcoming videos we'll talk about how and where to get involved online.
But before you create any of these identities, you'll need to figure out who you are first
and what message you want to create.
So this is done through branding and storytelling,
two of the major driving forces behind any successful marketing strategy.
