Installing VirtualBox1:34 with Jay McGavren
First we'll need to download and install VirtualBox itself.
First, we're going to need to download and install the VirtualBox software. 0:00 Just do a web search for VirtualBox, and visit VirtualBox.org. 0:03 Click on the downloads page. 0:13 The computer that you'll be running VirtualBox on is referred to as the host, 0:14 whereas, the virtual operating system that you'll be running on it is called guest. 0:18 So we need to download a host platform for our particular OS. 0:23 I'm running on Mac, so I'll click on the OS X hosts link. 0:29 It'll begin downloading a disk image, and then I just click on that to open it. 0:35 Okay, and as the instructions say here, 0:47 I'm just going to double click on this icon and it'll run the installer. 0:49 Okay, I'm going to confirm that the installation can proceed. 0:55 I'll type my password. 1:06 And click Close when it's complete. 1:14 Then as it suggests, 1:18 I'm going to go to my Applications folder and run the VirtualBox application. 1:19 Double click VirtualBox.app to run it, and 1:23 now VirtualBox is installed and ready for us to install Linux on. 1:27
