Software Applications Used0:54 with Sarah Parmenter
Designs are usually created in popular graphics software, such as Photoshop with scalable elements created in Illustrator. In this course we are going to use a software called Sketch, which is a hybrid of both, and much cheaper for those of you starting out in UI design.

I started to use a new program called Sketch, which is a hybrid of
both, and much cheaper for those of you starting out in New Eye Design.
Whatever you choose, you need to ensure it can export PNG files.
This is the preferred, file format, for designing for your application.
To be exact it actually has to be PNG 24
rather than PNG eight, this is the highest
quality file format with the lowest file size.
[NOISE] These files are cut up into parts and
then reassembled like a jigsaw puzzle by an app developer.
Or sometimes designers choose to do this part
as well but that's a whole other lesson.
There are some great applications that will help you along the way.
Such as apps that will help you with sizing your imagery a little
easier, as well as various apps that will mirror your screen onto actual devices.
But for now we're going to concentrate on using Sketch.
