Categories and Tags1:37 with Zac Gordon
Categories are a very general way of grouping content. A site will not usually have more than a dozen categories. Content may have a lot of different tags assigned to it. In this video we will go over how to work with categories and tags for the blog on our site.
WordPress has 2 primary ways to group content—categories and tags.
Categories are general high-level ways of grouping your content.
You usually only have a dozen to half a dozen categories.
Tags on the other hand are more specific, and you often have quite a lot of them.
Let's jump into our blog section and take a look at categories and tags in action.
We can find the categories for our site under posts and categories.
We have the option to add new categories, as well as edit and view the categories we've already created.
If we comment and add a new post, we can see that we have the option to choose what category we want to use.
We can also find access to our tags under our post section.
You'll usually have a lot more tags than categories.
However, the page setup is the same.
We could add new tags, or we could view and edit existing tags.
When we come in to add a post, we can see that under tags we have
the option to either choose from the most used tags
or we could even add brand new tags right from here.
