Definition of Settings API Terms - Pages, Sections, Fields and Settings0:46 with Zac Gordon
In this video we go over the basic definitions for the following important terms: Pages, Sections, Fields and Settings.
When it comes to working with settings in WordPress,
there are a few basic terms that we need to know.
The first term is Page.
And this refers to the slug for the page we are adding a setting to.
The term is Section.
This refers to a group of setting on a page.
Some pages have multiple sections and some just have a single section called default.
A Field is the actual HTML control and label used to update the setting.
And Setting is the final term which refers to the actual
option stored in the database.
Now that we have some of our basic terms down, let's create a theme
options page for our demo theme that will let us start adding some settings.
