Treehouse TeacherComing Soon: Illustrator Foundations and Full Project Releases
Hi everyone,
Big news! In May, we're going to release a brand new Deep Dive called Illustrator Foundations. Treehouse teacher Mat Helme will teach you Adobe Illustrator: how to use the tools, apply effects, draw icons, and more.
Normally I don't make these types of public announcements in advance of a release, but this is a little bit special, because it's the first time Treehouse will release an entire project all at once (instead of just one stage at a time). We've been working on Illustrator Foundations for a little while now, but we haven't added it to our Roadmap because the production process we're using is slightly experimental for us. We're now close to release and feel confident in our new workflow.
Right now we normally release projects 1 stage at a time, but over the course of 2013, all future Projects and Deep Dives (that aren't already on the Roadmap) will be released as full projects. We're still finalizing this schedule, but I think you're going to love what's coming up! The goal is to provide a better learning experience. Instead of waiting for one stage after another, you can enjoy an entirely new Project or Deep Dive all at once.
By August, we plan to release 2 new projects per month (one every other week). Between now and then, we'll release a few full projects here and there as we wind down our typical single-stage releases.
If you have any questions or feedback about this, please reply to this thread. I'd love to hear about it!
All the best,
Nick Pettit

9,995 PointsThat's great Nick! Congrats.
I wish you would just do more in the web area - building a complete site etc. You are the best at code!
There are tons of resources out there to learn Illustrator and Photoshop.
But, there is just one of you!

Treehouse TeacherHi Marsha,
More web content is coming, for sure. This is the first of many full project releases. :)

Courses Plus Student 8,710 PointsThis is great news! One of the more frustrating things about the stage process is finishing a stage, then having to wait a few weeks for the next one to be released.

Treehouse TeacherHi Adam,
Glad to hear you're excited about this! Indeed, we think it will be a lot smoother than waiting for new stages. :)

7,329 PointsWow this could not have come at a better time. Just started a module in college that involves a lot of illustrator!
Very happy to hear that projects will be released in full from now on. I really think that is a much better way of doing things!
Thanks treehouse.

41,730 PointsThis is awesome! I love illustrator and have some skills with it, but Mat Helme is just an INCREDIBLE illustrator. I can't wait for this project.
Also love that you guys are going to start releasing the projects as full packages. The worst part about the current set up is I get hooked into what I'm learning and then have to wait forever for the next course. its like tv, but instead of a week between episodes, its a summer hiatus.

7,796 PointsYay, I'm loving it!

4,933 PointsCool. Perfect timing, I'm just starting a business and am in charge of doing most of the graphics (even though I'm not a graphic designer... it's a pretty Spartan effort for now...) and have been having to rely on youtube and google for all my answers. It'd be nice to have an organized lesson set for learning Illustrator. Looking forward to this!
And I agree with the complete release comments. I'm waiting for console foundations to finish. (Of course I just burned through everything that's up yesterday, but still...).

2,009 PointsOH this is fantastic news! I have just started playing around in illustrator and wished you had some info on it. Now I can learn illustrator from the best!

Treehouse TeacherWow! Lots of excitement here. Glad you all like the idea of full-project releases.
Like I said, by August we'll be fully transitioned to the new release schedule of 2 projects per month. Between now and then, you'll see us ramp up full-project releases while we wind down our normal single-stage-releases. Rest assured, there won't be a lack of new things for you to learn. The Treehouse team is operating at full force!
