Get Verified

Just a suggestion but I think it would be best if the "Get Verified" button didn't just do a "mailto" but actually launched a dialog that had all the items that are required in order to get verified. This makes it much clearer and saves new users from waiting for support to respond to the obvious question: "How do I get verified?".

I gave up on that feature as it wasn't very well explained. Good question will follow this feed.

I actually got verified. What you need to do is click the "Get Verified" button and it should launch your default EMail client. In the subject line you should type something like "How do I get verified?" and in the body say something like "Please send me the steps so I can get verified.". Someone will reply to you by tomorrow with the list of items that need to be provided to them in order to verify your account.

This is of course my main complaint in that a list can easily be provided right away with an input field so you can paste the answers and then submit them directly. I think it should definitely be more intuitive since I'm sure every newbie has the same question...."How do I get verified?"

How to get a verified profile

Note: Remember to replace all occurrences of yourname with your own Treehouse username.

Sign up for http://gravatar.com with the same email address that you used for Treehouse.

  • Github

Commit a text file called treehouse.txt to any repo. "YourName is a Treehouse Member with a profile at http://teamtreehouse.com/yourname" and the date.

Example: James Barnett is a Treehouse Member with a profile at http://teamtreehouse.com/jamesbarnett 1/22/13

  • Dribbble

Upload a shot to your Treehouse Profile like this: Add a post saying "Please check out my Treehouse Profile at http://teamtreehouse.com/yourname"

Update your status saying "Please check out my Treehouse Profile at http://teamtreehouse.com/yourname"

Tweet out "@treehouse I'm verifying my profile at http://teamtreehouse.com/yourname"

Great thanks James! I haven't even checkout the Facebook group yet :) After signing up yesterday, the first thing I did was click that blue "Get Verified" button.
