How can a student become a Moderator for Treehouse Island?

I would very much like to become a Treehouse Moderator. I have learned a lot from spending my time at the forum. And wish to continue doing so it keeps me focused and on track.

A great person to talk to about this is Faye Bridge

Teame,

In order for you to be considered to be a moderator, there are certain prerequisites that you must have. You need to have enough points, spend a good amount of time on these forums, contribute to answering posts, and get noticed by either a fellow moderator or a member of the Treehouse staff. While I don't know if I'm allowed to posts the exact requirements for not, you can always send an email to the Treehouse staff and ask for a list. Most of all, just be helpful and show that you know your stuff and someday you may get an email from Treehouse asking you if you'd like to join the ranks. Hope this helps.

Cheers!

Hi Teame,

I think the best way to answer your question is to remain dedicated to learning at Treehouse and to helping support others on the forum, I joined Treehouse back in 2012 and haven't looked back purely because of the warm and welcoming nature that the community brings each and every day and been able support students on the forum with problems that I remember having when I first started out as a developer.

One of the biggest things I've learned in life is that the more heart, soul and passion you put towards something the easier it is to achieve those small success stores along the way which for me have removed every other expression from my face apart from smiling as there is nothing negative about what you can achieve at Treehouse each and every day.

For me replying to this gives me a bit of euphoria as before Friday this week I was a regular student on Treehouse just doing what I love and helping others and now I'm in a position that allows me to continue doing exactly that but with a form of leadership so to speak that I and other moderators on Treehouse have.

Don't give up, reach for that goal, I have all my life and it's never done me wrong.

Hi Teame, this is a great question. The forum gets a lot of questions and so Treehouse is always in looking for those who can provide help to others.

A few general requirements

  • An in-depth understanding of the Treehouse app & learning experience
  • Been learning with Treehouse for 3+ months
  • At least 5,000 points on their Treehouse profile
  • Demonstrate they are consistently helpful & engaging
  • The ability to be patient & approachable in the forum

If you feel you would be a good fit for moderator, try to show some effort by taking what you've learned and helping others. It also includes a few responsibilities like helping organize the forum and such. Moderators can recommend other potential moderators, so keep up the good work, and I'm sure someone will recognize and recommend you for doing so.

I hope this explains a little about what it's like, or how to become a forum moderator at Treehouse. The other moderators have provided some great suggestions as well.

The other mods have pretty much covered everything.

The main thing is to continue helping people on the forums and enjoy doing it. Remain active and helpful and you should get noticed :D

Keep up the good work Teame Gebru

Recently Treehouse exposed a way to see which points were acquired from achievements and which points were acquired from the forum.

I just took a look at some of the newer moderators in this thread they all have earned a few hundred points from their helpful answers on the forum.

The other important point is having a good sense about all the content Treehouse has and how all the features of the forum work so you can direct your fellow Treehouse students to the right place.

Really awesome answers all around, I am glad for the support. This post will only fuel me to continue my pace and efforts with Treehouse. I am glad to have reached out and will continue doing so. And I hope this helps others and gives them direction as well. (Just a thought) Maybe Treehouse Staff can create a new tab for the forum, such as FAQ or Most Viewed, I think many will benefit on the forum if they had a quicker method of relating to others.
