1,686 PointsProblems loading videos in the evening
Is anyone else experiencing serious lag in loading videos in the evening? I live in the eastern time zone. I just signed up over the weekend and for the past 2 nights the site has been very slow. I ran a speedcheck on my internet connection and everything seems fine.

31,206 PointsVideos seem to be running smoothly for me. Usually if I've had a problem in the past, they've had it taken care of in less than 30min.

1,686 PointsI wish I knew what was causing it. My ping is 31, download is 23.75, and upload is 2.15. I've been using the site all day. It only seems to happen in the evening. Are my tubes getting clogged? :-)

1,096 PointsI've had this problem as well. Usually I just reload the page a few times and it seems to work fine.

3,310 PointsYes, I am experiencing the same issues in the evening lately (Mountain Time). I've ran speedchecks the last few nights and everything is working properly with my internet connection. Other sites are loading fine as well. I attempted to download some of the videos just now and the download speeds are under 1KB/s. Currently downloading at 300 B/s, which will take 7 hours to download the 20MB file! Any word from Treehouse on this yet? The site works fine for me during the day, until about 6pm ET.

39,199 Points@Kevin - If you want to get a response from Treehouse support your best bet is to email them directly at help@teamtreehouse.com
As a general rule any issue with the site itself should go directly to that email address as the users on the forum will be unable to resolve the issue for you.

"Thanks for getting in touch! Sorry for the problems you're experiencing. I am not able to recreate the problem. Could you go into a bit more detail? Any relevant software versions, tablet model, screenshots you can provide will be helpful in us fixing this problem. Thanks! :)
Let us know if there is anything else you need. Thanks for being a member!"
I have provided support all the requested information. Will update when I get a response.

Treehouse Guest TeacherHey guys;
Let me weigh on this a little bit.
When you attempt to access our video, you're not actually getting it from one of our servers - you're getting it from something called a Content Delivery Network (CDN). The CDN is made up of hundreds of servers distributed across the world, and each one has a copy of our video content - the idea is that you'll always be physically close to a server, which is supposed to make things load faster for you.
Occasionally there are things that can interfere with that connection to the CDN, which is why we have some standard troubleshooting steps that we go through with anyone experiencing slowness - sometimes the problem is caused by an overzealous browser extension, or network issues at home/with your ISP. Sometimes, however, the problem isn't really local to your personal setup, it seems to be impacting your geographical area as a whole - this has been popping up a fair bit lately in the past couple of weeks.
What appears to be going on is that some nodes in our CDN aren't responding quickly, as though they're getting bogged down or there's some intermittent network issue going on with them that leads to extremely low bandwidth for some of our users. Considering that video is a pretty central component to the Treehouse experience, this is a pretty big issue for us, and one that we're working on resolving now.
As much as I would love to promise an immediate solution to this issue, it's a tricky problem that we don't have much direct control over. I do want to assure everyone that it is a top priority for us, and we're doing what we can to try to get it resolved.
Please definitely let me know if there are any questions you have about all of this or if there's anything we can do to help make this situation better for you all.
Thanks for being members!

779 PointsThanks Tommy! I will try VPN'ing into another Geolocation to see if performance improves. Great service overall!!!!

1,686 PointsThanks for the explanation Tommy! To avoid this problem, I now download the videos before watching. This ensures I will have it no matter what. If I know I am going to watch a bunch in the evening, I download them all during the day, when the connection is much faster.
