What "Working with Data" Means

What AI can do with spreadsheets, CSVs, and databases today, the kinds of projects that come out of it, and how Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity each handle data work. The short version: you no longer need to be a data analyst to work with data well.

Vocabulary

  • CSV (Comma-Separated Values) — A plain-text spreadsheet format — each line a row, commas between columns. The most common way to move data between tools.
  • Database — Where your app stores information that has to stick around — accounts, saved items, history. Data not saving, duplicating, or vanishing is a database issue.
