Naming Your App

Generate ten name options with AI, then narrow to one using four quick questions, including whether the domain and social handle are available and why you should verify that yourself before committing. Then write the three things you'll use every time you talk about this app: a tagline, a one-sentence description, and a problem statement built from a simple formula.

Naming Prompt

I'm building an app that [Place your target user here] [Place your target user's problem here]. The tone should feel [Place 3 adjectives here. For example: trustworthy, practical, and modern]. Generate 10 name options. For each one, give me a one-sentence explanation of why it works.

The Problem Statement Template

[Target user] struggles with [Specific problem] because [Reason]. A simple solution would [Outcome].

Vocabulary

  • Problem statement — One or two sentences naming the specific problem your app solves: target user struggles with problem because reason.
  • Target user — The specific person your app is for — specific enough that a stranger could picture them. "Busy people" is not a target user.
