[Treehouse presents] 0:00 [Quick Tips][Learning the Workspace in Adobe Illustrator][with Mat Helme] 0:02 Hey, what's up—Mat Helme here with a Treehouse Quick Tip: 0:05 Learning the Workspace in Adope Illustrator CS6. 0:09 When we first open up Adobe Illustrator, we will notice that the application is broken up into panels. 0:13 All the way at the top, we have our Application Bar, 0:18 where we are able to switch workspaces very easily. 0:21 Directly below the Application Bar, we have the Control Panel. 0:24 The Control Panel displays the options for the currently selected object. 0:27 All of the boxes to the right are called Panels and can be displayed wherever you wish by selecting them and moving them. 0:31 This comes in handy when you're working on a specific project. 0:37 This panel can also toggle out. 0:41 Say if we want to pull out brushes, we can do that very easily by selecting the tab, holding, and then dragging it out. 0:43 Now, say if I want to take brushes and put it next to gradient, I can by— 0:51 again—selecting the tab and dropping it in. 0:55 All the way to the left we have our Tools Panel. 1:03 Think of this as like your toolbox. 1:05 Each one of these tabs that has an arrow below it 1:07 you can select, hold down, and see all of the tools within that panel. 1:11 It's almost like it's a tool drawer to your toolbox. 1:16 Simply select the arrow to the right to release it, and you can pull out that drawer. 1:19 Then, directly in the middle we have our Document Window or our Canvas; 1:24 this is simply where all of our artwork is displayed. 1:28 Below that, we have our Status Bar; 1:32 this displays information and has navigation controls such as zoom and scroll. 1:34 And that—my friends—is Adobe Illustrator CS6 Workspace. 1:39 For more in-depth tutorials and projects using Adobe Illustrator CS6, 1:43 head over to Treehouse and treat yourself to a gold membership; you deserve it! 1:48
