    a Google Slides presentation to go along with it. 0:26
    But to start, I'll show you how to prepare. 0:29
    A well designed presentation starts with knowing your audience. 0:32
    Depending on the audience, you want to structure the presentation differently. 0:36
    Let's look at four factors you should consider the next time 0:41
    you're preparing to present, audience roles and backgrounds, 0:45
    their goals and challenges, internal or external, formal or casual? 0:51
    First up, what are their roles and backgrounds? 0:56
    Will you be presenting to fellow designers, product managers, developers, 1:00
    leaders, marketers or a mix of people in various roles? 1:05
    If you'll be speaking to those with a non-design background, 1:11
    take care with using design lingo. 1:14
    Communicate in layman's terms that are easily understood and 1:16
    ask questions along the way to see if your audience needs more explanation. 1:20
    Secondly, what are their goals and challenges? 1:26
    What do they care to know about? 1:29
    Will the project affect their role in any way, how can you help them? 1:32
    Speak to those aspects and you'll have a more engaged audience. 1:37
    Try to anticipate their needs, concerns and questions. 1:42
    Is there anything you can clarify up front or be prepared to answer? 1:47
    Thirdly, consider if the audience includes people outside of your company. 1:53
    Perhaps they aren't privy to the inner workings of your company and 1:58
    the product you're working on. 2:02
    You'll want to speak to them where they're at and 2:03
    include any relevant backstory as necessary. 2:06
    Now, for the final consideration, is the audience expecting a formal or 2:10
    casual presentation? 2:16
    Design teams often have critiques where work in progress is presented casually. 2:18
    Those types of meetings don't require a formal presentation, 2:24
    you can simply share your work from the design program. 2:27
    A more formal presentation would be if you're presenting a new feature idea 2:32
    to a room of decision makers. 2:36
    Perhaps a project is at a major milestone, 2:39
    and you're ready to present your solution for feedback and approval. 2:41
    For that, you'll want to prepare a more formal presentation 2:46
    in the style of what I'll be talking about in this workshop. 2:50
