[Console Foundation] How do I type a tilde (~)

I cant seem to find the ~ on my keyboard and googling it was not very fruitful. I need to use it apparently for navigating my directories in the console.

Thanks to whoever can help me.

What is your keyboard layout? I had to switch from the german QWERTZ to the english QWERTY layout to get the tilde in the console to work (also on a mac).

False Alarm everyone ! im an idiot. haha.

I ran into a similar problem: I'm using the german QWERTZ layout on a mac keyboard. I don't have a "Alt Gr" on this so I can't create a ~ or | on the treehouse console.

Any trick or way to change my keyboard layout?

A quick Google for OS X keyboard layout turned up this tutorial as it's first result, it should get you pointed in the right direction

Thanks, but I was looking for a way to change the layout style just for the terminal but leaving the rest of my computer as usual.

Something like kbdconfig or loadkeys?!

I don't think kdbconfig or loadkeys do that.
