Hey Brent,

Glad you're feeling a bit antsy to get into it :). I'll start off by saying I remember when I first really realized that all programming (ok not all, but a lot of the "real" stuff) is really just combinations of if statements loops, etc. Having a solid foundation is important because the more complicated stuff is basically just more layers of this simple logic. It sunk in for me when I saw example code for how to check to see if someone had paid for the app. Basically it was an if statement like this:

if (user.hasPaid) {
    showPremiumContent()
}

"That's it??!" Yeah, that's it.

Anyway, for PHP examples that might be a bit more advanced, you may want to check out the workshops on PHP here at Treehouse. Browse through them and see what might spark your fancy.

There's a good one on PHP and the Stripe API, which is used to make credit card purchases. Might be right up your alley.
