CSS CSS Basics (2014) Basic Selectors ID Selectors

I don't see the orange border at the bottom or spacing around the footer of the web page can anybody help me ?

main-footer {

padding-top:  60px;
padding-bottom: 60px;
border-bottom: solid 10px orange;

}

There are two parts to making this work

1) In your html add an id to your footer tag

<footer id="main-footer">

2) In your css select the id by name including a hashtag

#main-footer {
    padding-top:  60px;
    padding-bottom: 60px;
    border-bottom: solid 10px orange;
}

It appears you are missing the hashtag in your selector
