Android Implementing Designs for Android Using Custom Styles and Themes Styling EditTexts and Buttons

Next, switch to the activity_main.xml file and add this new style to each EditText in the layout.

Hi there,

In the XML you should remove the spaces and also close the style tag:

<style name="CustomEditText"></style>

Then in the edit text definitions, add the line:

style="@style/CustomEditText"

That should work for you.
