JavaScript jQuery Basics Introducing jQuery Getting Values from Form Fields

please help me

The question is : Inside the click handler in app.js:

  • Select the heading text with the class of .profile-name
  • Use jQuery’s text() method to set the contents of .profile-name to the value of the input field

The error is: SyntaxError: app.js: Assigning to rvalue '$' (4:2)

I have no idea why this error occurs. please help me!

Hey, there are two mistakes in your code.

  1. profile-name is a class not an id
  2. to change the text content of a selector, you have to pass the new value as an argument to the text() function

this should work:

$('button').click(function() {
    var newName=$('#name-input').val();
    $('.profile-name').text(newName);
  });
