1 em is equal to the font size value of the parent element. The default font size is 16px. so 1em equals 16 px. and 20px equals 1.25em (20:16=1.25).

Elements inherit and 'em' value from their parent. They're saying the parent of this '.intro' class has a font-size of 16px. They want the .intro class to have an em value that is equivalent to 20px. So in order to do that we'll need to set the font size of .intro to 1.25em, because 20 / 16 = 1.25.
