3D Flip Transform a little glitchy

http://ashley-crossland-design.co.uk/drone/aerial.html#

I am trying to create a 3d flip transition for the upper right hand social media icons. They transition from purple to the lime green colour. I have managed to get this effect ok, but when hovering it can be a little 'stuttery'.

Does anybody know how I can make this effect work more smoothly and efficiently.

Thanks!

Thank you for the response but it didn't prove useful enough for me. I have fixed it myself with some tinkering. If anybody would like the code for smoother flipping object transitions then send me a message, thanks.

Ashley,

Here is a great example of how to make the transitions smoother in your CSS transitions.
