3D Transform Question

According to the Transitions and Transforms Deep Dive, we need to first establish a 3D perspective on a web page using the ‘perspective property’ before we can transform an element in 3D. Why didn’t we first use the perspective property in this lesson before using the rotateZ value in the steam keyframe?
