A little confused on what we did in this specific lesson

So the lesson Saving a Photo to Gallery (Ribbit Android). I'm a little confused. Everything works fine, but then again everything worked fine before this lesson also. The pictures were already being saved to the Ribbit gallery from the lesson before, I'm not exactly sure what we did differently in this lesson.

Before this lesson my pictures where stored in the file manager, not the gallery. I am using the genymotion emulator.
