According to Zac custom post templates will override archive but that not what is happening in the video, Right ?

When Zac turns on archive pages for custom post types he mentions that even though archives are turned on custom post templates will take precedence, but that is not what is happening in the video. We see the old archive page and not the custom post template. Or am I missing something here ?
