adding animations to svg?

I used illustrator for the first time ever today just made a simple logo on the quick and saved it as an svg and I then started playing around with svg animations:

when I've been looking at tutorials about svg's I noticed my svg code looked alot diffferent. For example I have no <path> when all the videos I was watching did. I wondered if I done something wrong in illustrator? be handy to know
