Adding more elements to an associative array

hie im having difficulties adding three more elements, it keeps saying have you assigned the "director" key a value, i cant find where im going wrong, pliz assist


$movie = array(
 "title" => "The Empire Strikes Back",
 "year" => 1980
$movie[] = ["director" => "Irvin Kershner"];
$movie[] = ["imdb_rating" => 8.8];
$movie[] = ["imdb_ranking" => 11];


<h1><?php echo $movie["title"]; ?> <?php echo $movie["year"] ?> </h1>

You just need to add them in the same way you added the 'title' and 'year'. The current code isn't passing as by entering $movie[] = ["director" => "Irvin Kershner"]; you're creating a multidimensional array.

Using your current code, instead of accessing the 'director' key by using $movie['director'], you'd have to use $movie[0]['director']
