Adding search bar to find friends from parse database

so I've pretty much finished my ribbit app with a few tweaks here and there. So now i want users to be able to search the parse database for there friends if (by some miracle) the app becomes super popular and has 1,000s of users that would take ages to load and find friends. So basically I'm wanting a search bar to display specific usernames so if i searched for "Gareth" my account would show up and i would be able to see if we are all ready friends or i could add them.

How Would i go about this many thanks
