Adjustment handles are not showing!

I am using Photoshop CC 2015.1.1 Release and I am able to access the ellipse tool, but when I follow the instructions and click on the path the adjustment handles do not show.

I found that if you click and hold the direct selection tool you choose the option with the white arrow and not the path selection tool (black arrow).

Try ctrl+H or ctrl+shift+B. You probably turned off edges (ctrl+H) or bounding box (ctrl+shift+B) by mistake. These should also be in the View menu.

Same problem here. Unfortunately ctrl+H makes the ellipse selection disappear/reappear and ctrl+shift+B changes the shade of the entire image with a bluish color. I'm now googling for a solution and will post when I find it.

Ok my problem was I selected the path selection tool and not the direct selection tool. Thank you, Allison.
