Java Java Objects (Retired) Creating the MVP Strings and Chars

Again Getting a problem here. I know I have got the answers previously but I am still not getting.

Sorry guys I had asked this question before but I am really confused whats wrong ? Two of the forum members had answered me but when I tried this once more again getting a bummer. Please help.

ScrabblePlayer.java
public class ScrabblePlayer {
    private String mHand;

    public ScrabblePlayer() {
        mHand = "";
    }

    public String getHand() {
       return mHand;
    }

    public void addTile(char tile) {
        // Adds the tile to the hand of the player
       mHand += 'tile';
    }

    public boolean hasTile(char tile) {
       return false;
    }
}

Hmm... why the single quotes on 'tile'?

Thanks Craig I got the answer, but whenever we add a charcter to a String we use single quotes for example example = example + " Wor"; example = example + 'l'; isnt it?

That's true when setting a value for a variable. But tile there is a variable name.
