Alt vs. Title

Does title affect search engine results as well? Say I left out the alt attribute and added a title instead. Will the title attribute of my image still influence its ability to be found?

Your title will help in searches; and if I understand it correctly, the alt text is more for screen readers (for people that have trouble seeing what is on the screen).
