Alternative to getting the object in the UIImageView, if object is not tapped? Any suggestion?

In this tutorial the (UIImage *)[sender view] was used to get the object.

What if you can't tapped or do something to that object and you want to use the object in UIImageView?

For example, a separate button available on that view? How can I tell the button what object is in the UIImageView?

Thanks.
