why is the android emulator is so slow? It keep showing me a blank screen, I cant even tell whether it is working or not.

4,990 PointsI had the same problem just wait after a few minutes if the android logo is not coming up. Then there is a problem or ur computer is way too slow for an emulator

42,016 Pointsthe android emulator built into eclipse and adroid studio is notoriously slow. It takes forever to start up. I would sugges using Genymotion, a third party emulator, as your emulator instead. Treehouse has some videos that show you how to download and set up genymotion here. The section is called Getting started with genymotion.

4,266 PointsI have to really echo the love for Genymothion, which makes me wonder "Has there been thought given to make Genymotion part of the regular track and used in the videos?" I know it's technically optional, but I really could NOT believe what a difference there was between the emulators and it makes sense to me to start with the better tools.
