Android emulator won't load

I'm running this off of a relatively old school computer. And it has been about 20 minutes now and the android logo on the emulator still hasn't shown up. I'm wondering if this is just a problem with the computer or a problem with how I set it up? I did exactly what he did. If it is also possible I could do that thing where you hook up your phone to the computer, I just don't know how to do it.

Hey Cole!

If you wish to use an emulator, could you please tell me the specifications of that computer and also the settings on the emulator you are trying to run.

If you wish to use an actual device instead (or would like instructions for both), let me know what your device is called, and make sure you have a USB data cable available to use.

I'll get back to you shortly regarding this! :)

I can't check the specs of the computer because I am not administrator, but I tried several different RAM settings and all of which wouldn't load. Other than RAM every other propertie was matching his. For my Actual device I would be using a Samsung Galaxy s4 Active.
