Android Studio 1.0.1 - Linux Mint 17 64b: Cannot access Designer view

Using Android Studio 1.0.1 on linuxmint17_64b. In View>Tool Windows>Designer, it's grayed out, and there is no tab at the bottom to select designer. Is Designer not available on the linux version, or is there some dependency that I am missing?

Fixed; minor bug in studio unrelated to my hardware. I had to close the .xml file that opened by default and re-open it. Problem solved.
