Android Studio Crashing during AVD Creation Process on Mac OS X

Hello:)

Right now, I am learning Android Development in Treehouse (which rocks by the way!), and I seem to have run into a roadblock. This is a problem with either Android Studio or my Mac (which is an Early 2008 MacBook running Lion...I need to get a newer Mac I know:p), but I don't know which. So if somebody could help me out with this, then that would be awesome! So here we go...

A little while ago, I was watching "Running the Fun Facts App" video in "How to Build a Simple Android App" (Stage 1), and I got to the part (around 4 minutes or so) where you are setting up your own AVD for the first time. I got through all of the steps he goes through and copy his AVD exactly (even with the ARM instead of Intel like he said). Then I click on the "finish" button and a box pops up that says "Creating/Updating AVD" with a progress bar. The only problem though is that that progress bar goes up and eventually (or I think maybe when you click on the box), a Crash Report (full report below) that says "studio has crashed unexpectedly". When I try to do it again with different devices, skins, and Android images, I still get the same result.

Can anyone help me with this? I am kindof stuck here at this point and I REALLY want to move on in the course (because it's so good!). Is this a problem with Android Studio or my Mac (which I stated above isn't new at all...)? If anybody could help me with this, then that would be awesome!

Thank You and God Bless!

---Jonathan

Hello:)

I just wanted to update this post and say that I found the solution to my problem! Creating an AVD in Android Studio didn't work, so I opened up SDK Manager and used the "Tools" in the menu to manually enter the data to create an AVD. And the thing is, it worked! The emulator opened up and it loaded the AVD!

Link to Stackoverflow Post that helped me (it was the 11th answer): http://stackoverflow.com/questions/22211572/ok-button-in-create-new-android-virtual-device-avd-dialog-does-not-do-anythi)

So now I can get back to learning Android Development, but before that, just wanted to say thanks you guys for all of the help!

Thank You and God Bless! ---Jonathan

(if somebody wants to close this post, that is fine with me. Or if it will automatically close, you can just leave it)

It might be worth a shot of just.... reinstalling Android Studio

Hello Jon

Yeah I thought about reinstalling it after I wrote the post and I thought to myself "Why didn't I do that before?" So that's my fault, and I will go and reinstall it now.

Thank You for your reply and I will post what happens next.

(UPDATE)

Just uninstalled and reinstalled Android Studio and it is still crashing whenever it gets to the "Creating/Updating AVD" part. I still don't know if this is Android Studio or my Mac. Maybe I didn't download something that I should have?

I don't know. If anybody can still help, that would rock. If not, I'll try to contact Google or something.

Thank You:)
