I am getting this error message:

"We could not detect a Java Development Kit (JDK) v7 or newer on your system. Please browse path if known:

or download the following compatible JDK:"

When clicking on the link to download the "following compatible JDK" it takes me to this website: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jdk7-downloads-1880260.html

First, I'd suggest going with the newer Java 8 instead of 7: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jdk8-downloads-2133151.html You can use either the u101 or u102 version. u102 is the newer patch.

The packages are labeled for a specific OS followed by processor type. The processor on any desktop/laptop that can run Android Studio nowadays is almost certainly a 64-bit which is "x64" in the filename.
