Hi guys! I've been learning web stuff for about a year now & I've been advertising my services on online classified ad websites like gumtree but am not having much luck.
Anyone got any ideas on how I can find some clients?

28,449 PointsHello Nathan,
I am a student in high school and I started learning php a couple of years ago. So I started a school project with a friend of mine and we presented it in a few places. And shortly after that people started to ask about us and our work. A month ago we signed our first contract for a website and a week later we signed an other one.
I don't know if my answer will be competent. As i said we signed our first contract a month ago. But the best advice I can give you is: Show your work. Build a portfolio. If people can see your work and they like it, they will want you to work for them. Don't advertise what you can do, advertise what you have already done.
Don't forget to protect yourself by signing your agreement with the client on paper.I won't go into details here as there is a great course about that here at teamtreehouse. http://teamtreehouse.com/library/how-to-freelance
I hope my answer will help you.
Best
Kristian

Yeh that's what I've started to notice... no one wants you to do work for them unless they can see what you've done before, cheers good advice!! Gotta get cracking on a portfolio, thanks again :)

5,521 PointsHi Nathan: I don't have the experience you're looking for, at least not yet. BUT, I am in Melbourne and I'm thinking it'd be great to try and put together a treehouse australia forum to build networks, get ideas, referrals etc. Let me know where you are and if you're interested at all. Even if it is almost a year since you posted!
Cheers,
Brendan
