any ideas why this isnt working

Seems simple but cant see why its not working, keeps saying syntax error, expected end statment

Sorry i did click add code to comment, for a site that teaches code its not very smooth.

def speedChecker(car_speed)

if (car_speed >= 40) && (car_speed <= 50)
return puts "safe"

else 
return puts "unsafe"

end

i have tried this with and without the return statments

Hi Simon,

  • Try adding another 'end' (so that the method is also closed.)

  • With the return statements, you only need to return the strings (no printing necessary.)

  • The compiler seems to be expecting the method name to be kept the same as it is in the sample code it gives you.

def check_speed(car_speed)
  if (car_speed >= 40) && (car_speed <= 50)
    return "safe"
  else 
    return "unsafe"
  end
end
