my sites look ugly because of the colors i choose is there any tips i can get for this, also how many colors should i choose?

Your right, I have noticed that colors can make or break a site....its best to try and stick to a single color and use the different shades to enhance different areas of the site. Further to this using a secondary color to highlight important areas of the site or using them for site alerts is good. Choosing colors really depends on site you are developing.
