Anyone got a hot Wordpress plugin for image galleries?

Hi folks,

I'm constructing a site at the moment with Wordpress, building the theme from scratch which is awesome once you get over the "oh shit, what am I doing?" factor of something so daunting.

Anyway, here's what I need if anyone has come across something cool that can do this.

The site has two key elements to it. Blogging and picture pinning (I hate this term but for lack of a better one).

I have a blog creation plugin that has fixed categories and is all done off the site pages which is cool.

However, now what I need is another similar plugin that is more geared towards pictures.

The idea is to be a little like Pinterest, users upload an image that has a little description, sharing and following buttons etc.

It needs to have separate categories though. The blog posts fall under one set of categories and the images need to fall under a separate set but the two categories categories can not appear on the other so I'm looking to run a second plugin that's unrelated.

If anyone has come across good plugins that can do something close, an image gallery basically, let me know. If clarification is required, I can do that too. I know this is a little bit of a jumbled explanation of what I'm after.
