Apple Members Centre not accepting my UDID!!

I am trying to add my apple devices to my Apple developer account so I can develop apps. I am following the instructions but I am being told that the UDID Identifier number I am entering keeps being rejected. It is correct. Why wont this work?

You're probably adding your serial number, instead of your UUID, but if you just log into your Developer Apple ID in Xcode and try to build and run to your device, Xcode will take care of all the UUID registration for you
