Are online surveys a good Learning Activity option?

Experience Sampling, Field Observation and Interviewing were the three Learning Activities presented in this course. What about conducting a survey via an online tool to ask potential customers questions about a new product concept?

In my case, I am considering building a website that I believe will fill a void in a particular market. Would creating an online survey (with a tool such as Survey Monkey) and sending that out to potential customers in my market be a good Learning Activity if in-person interviews, etc aren't possible?
